We are proud to announce that Cantonments Football Club has a new Technical Director charged with implementing training schemes and running the day to day business of our club. Mark Eckerle, a sports physiotherapy graduate from Chicago Illinois, has previous experience of Cantonments, having spent a month volunteering with the Senior Team last summer. He boasts experience as a youth coach in the USA and made no pretence of hiding his excitement at being handed the role:
"This is a fantastic opportunity for me to meet up with old friends and help to continue the good work being done at Cantonments Football Club." claimed the 26 year old, "I have nothing but fond memories of my time in Ghana and I hope to bring some new ideas to the table so that we can take the club forward. I can't wait to get started!"
Former Technical Director David Flaschner revealed that Mark's appointment demonstrates the commitment of both the club and partners Projects Abroad to continuing the process of development laid out at the start of their working relationship. "At the time we agreed that it was vital to maintain the current system of a Technical Director overseeing all football-related matters. There is always a danger when a key member of staff leaves that plans can change but by appointing a guy like Mark who has experience at the club, we've proved that we're going in the right direction. I think it's a fantastic decision and I wish him well."
Time will tell how the new man copes with the pressures of the job, but for the moment he seems relaxed and raring to go. "The first job is to get a good pre-season under our belts and then we can hit the ground running. We're going to be gunning for the league this year, no doubt about it!” I think everyone at the club agrees with this sentiment and we wish Mark and his team the best of luck for the coming season.
