News reaches us today that after 11 months in charge Technical Director David Flaschner is stepping down from his post at the club and returning home to the UK. Flaschner, 23 from Croydon in Surrey, recently oversaw a successful season at the club and had these words to say:
"There's no doubt in my mind that my time at Cantonments Football Club has been the best experience of my life. I have made what I hope to be long lasting friendships and I honestly believe that together we have laid the foundations for this club to achieve unrivalled success in the future."
While the Englishman will be remembered for numerous coaching innovations, surely his biggest impact could be seen in the performances of the Under 17 Team who went the season unbeaten and gained promotion to the Premier League. "I'm proud of the Under 17 team but I think it's worth stressing that they're not the only ones who played good football and won their league." he mentioned, "People talk a lot about certain individuals being responsible for success or failure but this club is a team and a family and nothing here gets achieved without everyone working in the same direction".
With Flaschner returning home to see his family and continue his coaching education in the UK, the biggest question from the fans' perspective was that of his replacement. Scott McQuarrie who worked in conjunction with Flaschner for Projects Abroad remained tight-lipped on the subject but did have the following words of encouragement for fans and players alike:
"Everyone at Cantonments can be rightly proud of their performances this year and we are determined to continue the work of David and his staff. Although I cannot make any announcements yet, rest assured that we are working on a new appointment and I am confident that when we do make an announcement, the Cantonments community will be pleasantly surprised."
As Flaschner flies back to London there is nothing left to report, except to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
