• David Flaschner

David first came to Cantonments FC as a volunteer coach with Projects Abroad. He impressed during his short time at the club and was offered the position of Technical Director in March 2008. He remained until the end of 2008, overseeing the Academy Under 17 team’s unbeaten league-winning season and taking charge of the Senior Team during their first campaign in Division 3.

He returned to Ghana for two months in the summer of 2009 to act as an interim coach after the departure of Mark Eckerle. David now works as football coordinator for Projects Abroad and his remit includes overseeing operations at Cantonments FC from the UK.

  • Mark Eckerle

An experienced youth coach from the USA, Mark was originally a volunteer for two months in the summer of 2008. He impressed during his time in Ghana with his attention to detail and knowledge of the game and was headhunted to replace David Flaschner in January 2009. He helped to implement a long term development plan for the Academy and worked tirelessly to improve the standard of the Senior Team.

After six months in charge, Mark returned to Chicago to continue his coaching education. He has since been involved in trying to forge links between Cantonments and American clubs and universities. Our ultimate aim is that talented players from the club who excel at school will get the chance to attend college in the USA and have the experience of a lifetime.

  • Charles Gould

Charles had spent time in Ghana, some two years before joining Cantonments, with a youth club just outside of Accra. This made him a perfect candidate for the job. His knowledge and enthusiasm for coaching meant that he was able to adapt to the challenges of coaching all of the different age groups and he fitted straight back into Ghanaian life as if he had never left. He took over from Mark Eckerle in the summer of 2009 and became the club’s second British coach in as many years.

Since returning to the UK, Charles has continued to support his beloved Peterborough United FC. He hopes to return to Ghana in the near future in a consultancy role and continue the important work that he helped start.
